Skills

Hi this is Robert Naini, your Spray Foam Advisor, and today I want to talk about skills, specifically your skills.

Do you know what your top skills are?

Do you know what you should be focusing your time, efforts, and attention on based on your skills?

Many business owners get started in business because they have a skill, a talent, or some useful knowledge that they want to use and profit from.

They generally get started because they are good at the operations side of the business, and they want to make money.

What are your best skills? This is very important. You need to know what your best skills are because you need to leverage those skills to make the best company that you can make.

The way you do this is focus on your core skills and core competencies, spend the majority of your time working in these key areas of your business and hire help for the other areas of the business.

There’s a saying, that if you can find someone that can do a job 80% as well as you, hire them for that job, let them do it, outsource it to them.

Even if you’re hiring an employee, technically you’re outsourcing. They might be on the payroll but technically you’re outsourcing a job, position or skill set to them, so hire others, bring them in and let them do the things that they can do at least 80% as good as you and you will build a better company, you will get more done this way.

If you built a company and you were great at operations, you got into the business, and you exploded and now you’ve become a manager, are you a manager?

Do you know what managers should be doing?

Do you know what your goals are as a manager?

Are you a leader in the organization? Do you know the difference between a leader and a manager?

I’ve done other videos about these concepts for management and leadership, and you can find more information on my website about these ideas.

Looking at other skills in the company, are you good at sales? If not, who in your company is best at sales?

Whoever is driving sales in your business should be spending most of their time on sales.

This wraps up the thoughts for today, identify your skills and your team’s skills and align them in your business for success.

This has been Robert Naini with Spray Foam Advisor, thanks for checking this out and catch me on some more videos.
