The Effect of Negative Influences, Part II

Last week we started the discussion on The Effect of Negative Influences, our susceptibility and how to protect yourself. This week we complete the review of Hill’s guidance on the effect of negative influences.

The most significant and inspiring facts is to realize that you have absolute control over your own thoughts and actions, for once you realize this, you can do anything.

For centuries there have always been naysayers. They tell the creative and innovative what they cannot do, because “no one has ever done it before.”

Thomas Edison was told that he would never create a machine that would record and replay human voices.

Henry Ford was laughed at for building “a strange contraption” that he called an automobile.

Just look at the advancements of the past 100 years alone. This is proof that if you can dream it and believe it, then you can achieve it.

People that do not succeed know all of the reasons for failure and have a list of alibis that make their failures okay.

Here are some of the commonly used alibis Hill shows us:

  • If only I didn’t have a wife and family…
  • If only I had enough “pull”…
  • If only I had money…
  • If only I had a good education…
  • If only I could get a job…
  • If only I had good health…
  • If only I had time…
  • If only times were better…
  • If only other people understood me…
  • If only conditions around me were different…
  • If only I could live my life over again…
  • If only I did not fear what “they” would say…
  • If only I had been given a chance…
  • If only other people didn’t “have it in for me”…
  • If only I were younger…
  • If only I could meet “the right people”…
  • If only I had embraced past opportunities…
  • If only I were not so fat…
  • If only I could get out of debt…
  • If only I hadn’t failed…
  • If only I knew how…
  • If only everybody didn’t oppose me…
  • If only I weren’t so dumb…
  • If only luck were not against me…

But these alibis do nothing for you except give you excuses.

All the world wants to know is, what have you done? What have you accomplished?

Alibis, used to explain away failure, have been around as long as the human race has been trying to accomplish anything, and it’s fatal to success.

Before this, you may have had your own alibis or excuses – maybe you have never heard the information, maybe you didn’t know that you didn’t know. Well, now you no longer have that excuse.

You have the master key to success and the key is YOU, YOUR THOUGHTS and YOUR ACTIONS!
