Positive Attitude

Last week we discussed the first key to success, Show Up. Over the next few weeks we will take a deeper look at the remaining keys to success and see how they might help you go to the next level.

Today we are going to talk about the second key to success and that is having a Positive Attitude.

What about you? Are you positive or negative most of the time?

This one really requires some reflection, the ability to be real with yourself and you may not like what you find. Are you a glass half full or half empty person? Do you use the words no, can’t and don’t, more than the words yes, I can and I will? What about the people around you? Do you spend time with positive or negative people? 

The Law of Association says that you are the combined average of the 5 people you spend the most time with, are you okay with that, what does that say about you? Have you noticed that positivity and negativity are contagious? Have you heard that “negativity breeds contempt”? Successful people don’t want to be around this.

Positive people get more done, are more likeable, appear to be more attractive and uplift those around them. I would rather work with a positive inexperienced newbie that will try and will figure it out, than an experienced curmudgeon that constantly complains and has excuses for everything. The latter are a drain on energy, innovation and opportunity, while the positive newbie has an open mind, tends to be creative and wants to hustle make it happen. Attitude can make or break your success. How would you score yourself?
