Last week we discussed Desire, the starting point of all success, and perhaps the most important of the success principles.
This week we discuss Faith. Faith is a state of mind, the belief in yourself and what is possible.
It is vital that you have faith or belief that you can accomplish your greatest desires. Remember, you would never have thought of your desires unless your internal faith had been guiding you in that direction and it was meant for you to accomplish.
Perhaps one of the greatest examples of Faith is Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi had no traditional tools of power – no money, no soldiers, he didn’t even have a home, yet he had tremendous power. By relying on his faith and his ability to transfer that faith into the minds of others, Gandhi influenced millions of people to come together and move in unison.
Faith is your internal belief, it’s where you draw your confidence from when you hit a bump in the road and it gives you the power to move ahead when others think you are crazy.
You can develop and build faith in three ways:
- Positive self-talk – Self-talk can be positive or negative, and have different effects on how you feel. There are a few ways you can develop better self-talk, which starts with what you are saying to yourself, in your head each day. You should practice positive self-talk and minimize negative self-talk, because feeling good is always worth the effort.
- Auto-suggestion – Dwelling upon and focusing on an idea, thought, or concept, by repeating a statement aloud multiple times and/or focused meditation, to induce a change in the mental or bodily functions and induce self-acceptance of the desire.
- Visualization – Envisioning and seeing your desired action and result in your mind’s eye.
When it comes to Faith and belief in yourself, here are two of my favorite quotes:
The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can’t are both right.
If you can dream it and believe it, you can achieve it.
