Introduction to SPFA Certification
SPFA, the spray foam insulation industry organization, has created a Professional Certification Program, also called the PCP, for the spray foam industry.
The SPFA PCP Certification is a progression of Certification Levels. For each certification a person wants to achieve, the candidate must pass the written examination for that level and any lower levels, starting with the “Assistant” Level, before they can move on to the next certification Level. They must also meet the pre-qualifications for that level.
Attending training courses is not required to become certified, although it is highly encouraged. A candidate can self-study, attend live training or use online training to expand or refresh their knowledge and prepare for the written exams.
These four certification levels are specifically designed for individuals involved in the installation process of SPF in thermal insulation applications:
- SPF Assistant
- SPF Installer
- SPF Master Installer
- SPF Project Manager
The SPF Assistant certification program is specifically designed for individuals involved in the assistance of the installation of spray polyurethane foam in thermal insulation applications. SPF Assistants duties may include assisting in equipment and job set-up, substrate preparation, material handling and staging, moving of hoses/scaffolding/ladders, masking, trimming, clean-up and other non-spraying activities.
To qualify for the SPF Assistant Certification, you must:
- Complete the CPI H&S online course
- Register for the SPF Professional Certification Program
- And, Pass the multiple choice SPF Assistant written exam, available in English and Spanish
